Boston Geocluster
Boston Geocluster Background:

SustainUS Boston began in May 2005 as a group of college students and young professionals interested in global issues of sustainable development.

Get involved! We would love to work with other interested youth across the state on sustainable development projects. E-mail the Geocluster Coordinator Josh with any questions or comments and click here to sign up for the Boston mailing list to hear about events in the area, and activities that we are planning.

SPOTLIGHT: Kickin' Publication Out of Cambridge

The Students for Global Sustainability (SfGS) at MIT has developed a publication called Studio!Sus that has "the goal of integrating the abstract concepts of sustainability into our everyday lives in Cambridge", but everyone should check it out.

Check out their website and download the pamphlet (which can be printed out and folded, or viewed as a regular document).

November, 2006:

The Boston Geocluster met up in Harvard Square. We discussed creating a Socially Conscious Map of the Greater Boston Area on Flagr.com which is a convenient way to get started collecting our ideas. We want to get an idea of what else is out there, and we want everyone to contribute.

If you have suggestions for the Boston area, sign up and post them at http://www.flagr.com/maps/1056

After we get a start on this, we'll discuss how to organize our ideas. We plan to have our next meeting in December.

May, 2006:

The Boston Geocluster met up for dinner family-style in Harvard Square on May 16th. We will miss a few of our great members who are leaving, but look forward to meeting new members who will help build up our presence in the Boston area. A picture will be coming soon...

April, 2006:

SustainUS Boston kicked off their cell-phone drive while attending and tabling for the MIT Earth Day fair in April. Jess and Christi represented -- a picture is coming soon...

If you are interested in collecting - or donating - used cell phones for a recycling drive in the Boston area, contact the Boston list serve and we will let you know how to get a box, and how to get started.

March, 2006:

Some Boston Geocluster members met to discuss the idea of a Sustainable Businesses map for the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area. A lot of members liked the idea, and we are looking for more people to give us ideas about how to make the SustainUS contribution most valuable. There are some other similar projects going on in the area, and are interested in finding a way to collaborate with them.

Email the Listserve if you are interested in working on this!

May 12, 2005:

Check out these two hot photos from the first SustainUS Boston Geocluster meetup on May 12th, 2005!!! A group gathered together at JP Licks, an ice cream parlor on Newbury St., to brainstorm of the role and activities of the Boston geocluster.
