Hey all! This is Kat from Philadelphia, PA! I'm one of the organizers of the new and fabulous Philadelphia SustainUS geocluster (SUSP=SustainUS Philly). I cannot tell you how excited I am about the "sustainable love" (phrase borrowed from the amazing Michael Gale) that is being spread around Philadelphia. In just one month, from our first meeting to our second, our membership jumped from 5 to 40! Incredible! It is obvious that Philly young people know what we want, and I promise you that SustainUS Philly will be an organization that enables you to reach those goals. We are not a DISCUSS group, we are a DISCUSS AND DO group, and we have big plans:
* Bring a WORKING Recycling Program to Philly
* Pressure our City Council to create much needed Green Building Codes
* Get our universities to conserve energy and water and sustainably serve up to their students the tools to make Philly the Next Great Sustainable City!
So, I invite you to definitely come out to our next meeting on Thurs May 25 at 7pm at Joe's Cafe (11th and Walnut) for some Fair Trade goodies and sustainable action! But before that, check out the SustainUS Philly page on meetup.com. We have a couple of events happening before our May meetup listed on the site and I highly encourage you to attend them.
Peace, Passion and Sustainability to you all! I hope to see you soon!
