Youth Steering Change Toward Sustainable Development
Are you inspired to make positive change in your community? Do you have an idea for global social or environmental action? Are you seeking support for an existing project or one you want to start? Apply now to the Lead Now Fellowship!
We are looking for passionate, driven, youth working on a project in their community and seeking guidance to further develop their leadership and project skills. The Lead Now Fellowship focuses primarily on four aspects:
- Trainings – A leadership workshop will be held in Washington DC at the beginning of the fellowship. Each month trainings are held through video conference calls to help fellows develop the skills needed to implement successful projects.
- Mentorship - Each fellow is matched with a mentor who has expertise in a specific area of interest relating to the fellow’s project. Mentors help fellows connect to resources specific to their project and hone their goals and plans throughout the year.
- Peer Community - Fellows will meet through bi-weekly video conference calls and a three-day leadership workshop. Fellows will build a support network and mentor others in the group to help foster their personal development.
- Recognition – Each fellow will receive an award to help with project implementation. They will also receive national recognition and media exposure for the work they are doing, and join a talented network of individuals working on the forefront of climate justice.
But don’t take our word for it, here’s a quote from a 2013 fellow “My overall experience was terrific! It was great to be able to travel and connect with like-minded people across the country, share skills and experiences, and try out ideas.”
The Lead Now Fellowship is open to people between the age of 13 and 26 who are US citizens or have lived in the US for more than 6 months.
The deadline for applications is November 1st and the fellowship starts January 1st. Apply now!
SustainUS is committed to supporting a diverse movement, a diversity of people and tactics.
