What is COP?
The annual UN climate negotiations, or the Conference of Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, are where countries of the world come together to discuss global responses to the climate crisis. COP is where the Paris Agreement was developed and agreed upon along with many other protocols for determining future climate action. SustainUS has been showing up at these conferences for many years to advocate for the voice of the youth and make bold statements both inside and outside the halls of negotiation.
This will be SustainUS’ first-ever international youth delegation to COP
This year, SustainUS will be sending sending our first-ever International delegation to COP 27 that is happening in Egypt this November 2022. Our delegation will comprise of youth leaders from around the States, Canada and Argentina. We will bring together a team of leaders, artists, organizers, mobilizers, visionaries to weave together our national movement for climate justice in the face of this global crisis.
We are committed to maximizing the centering and amplification of traditionally oppressed, excluded, silenced and marginalized voices in the discussions of climate change.
