Ali Shahbaz is based in Washington DC where he is a sophomore at Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Politics with a concentration in Security Studies. In DC, Ali works with the Georgetown Global Consulting, a micro-finance firm providing development expertise to emerging business groups and entrepreneurs across the globe. He also works as a Research Analyst at the Beeck Center for Social Innovation, procuring resources and tools for multi-stakeholder engagement, innovative finance and social best-practices.
Ali has been the Pakistan Youth Delegate to the United Nations and has represented the country at multiple inter-agency platforms on climate change, Sustainable Development Goals, and intergenerational justice This has included work at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the UN Environment Programme. He continues to remain involved in the sustainability and climate discourse.
A travel enthusiast, Ali has voyaged across all continents except Antarctica – a location at the top of his bucket list! When not in negotiation rooms or lobbying in the hallways, you can find him alpine skiing, playing squash like a pure novice, amateurly instagramming (@the.alishahbaz) or most likely, day-dreaming.
