Motivated by love of people and place, Cassidy Jones comes to the fight for climate justice with a heart open to the struggles of those most affected by climate change. A fifth generation Oregonian, Cassidy grew up in a rural mill town all too familiar with the economic repercussions of unchecked natural resource extraction. With this in mind, she dreams of and strives toward a world built by and for the new American majority.
Cassidy is the Program Director for Our Climate and the Put A Price On It campaign. Our Climate is a youth led and managed national non-profit organization. Our Climate mobilizes and empowers the generations most affected by climate change to pass inclusive, science-based climate policy through creative civic engagement. In her role as Program Director, Cassidy develops and executes national leadership programs, supervises state and regional youth organizers, and builds strategic partnerships to strengthen programs.
Prior to her work with Our Climate, she assisted in a federal environmental depredation trial, studied greenhouse gas emissions in the Columbia River Gorge, taught children organic farming methods, and served as a legislative fellow for Oregon Climate. Outside of the climate movement, Cassidy values building community through cooking, reading, and camping with friends and her dog, Zora. A recent graduate of Knox College, she hold degrees in Environmental Studies and International Relations
