A New Yorker turned global nomad, Erica studied Sustainable Development and Human Rights at Columbia University. After her research brought her to the frontlines—a drought affected Himalayan community that was deemed “Nepal’s first climate refugees”— she has been galvanized towards work protecting the rights of those forced to flee their homes because of climate change. Erica attended COP20 with SustainUS, and at COP21 will be supporting the policy and media teams to connect the narrative of climate impacts with the need for urgent action, in Paris and beyond. She is currently a researcher for the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC), and has previously worked on climate and social justice issues for a range of organizations, including the Nansen Initiative, UNHCR, NRDC, and the Earth Institute. Erica is also a photographer, a yogini, an adventurer, and proponent of intentional positivity.
