Soumya is studying engineering and its applications to renewable energy as a sophomore at Princeton University. Ever since hiking among giant sequoias in California as a child, she has been committed to the environmental sustainability movement. In addition to being a delegate for COP 21 in Paris in December 2015, she is working with Princeton Sustainable Investment Initiative to advocate for her university to incorporate environmental ethics into the management of its endowment and helps run her university’s energy savings competition, Do It in the Dark. Soumya is also a radio journalist at WPRB 103.3 FM and often produces stories on environmental policy. Outside of her work with environmental issues, Soumya loves reading Calvin and Hobbes comics, hiking in the rain, and ice-skating.
