Shir Kehila Orner is a third year student of Human Ecology at College of the Atlantic. Originally from Israel, she was awarded a scholarship to attend the UWC in Italy, where she discovered a profound interest in language and the protection of human rights. Volunteering with the Hotline for Migrants and Refugees in Tel Aviv, her hometown, and for the Center of Mesoamerican Regional Investigation in Antigua, Guatemala, she advocated against the various manifestations of injustice through resistance, direct action and the conservation of civic memory. Through this conference, she hopes to gains a better understanding of the struggle for gender equality.
